Using £15,000 of funding from Help for Health, the Hull and East Yorkshire (HEY) Smile Foundation has embarked on an ambitious scheme to install over 30 defibrillators in varying localities across Hull and East Yorkshire.
To make this funding go further and have a wider impact on communities across Hull and East Yorkshire, Smile invited parish councils and community action groups to fundraise money to cover half the cost of the defibrillator and then Smile would pay the other half.
Applications were submitted in February and to date 10 defibrillators have already been delivered to locations across our area. These are:
Barmby Moor
Kilnwick
Beverley (x3)
Cherry Burton
East Cottingwith
Londesborough
Molescroft
Stamford Bridge
Early basic life support and defibrillation give the best chances of survival for a patient who suffers a cardiac arrest. The provision of defibrillators in rural areas is particularly vital as ambulances may take longer to reach these localities.
