Improving the health and well-being
of people living in East Yorkshire
and Northern Lincolnshire
At their March 2017 meeting, the Trustees of Help for Health made a grant of £5,400 to the Over the Wall charity, a UK children’s charity and a member of the international SeriousFun Children’s Network. They provide free of charge Therapeutic Recreation camps to help children with life-limiting illnesses and reach beyond the perceived limitations of illness to rediscover a whole new world of possibilities.
Some children aged 8-17 from East Yorkshire, Hull and North and North East Lincolnshire coping with a serious health condition will be offered the opportunity to take up a place on an Over The Wall week-long therapeutic recreation camp run at quality activity centres during August 2017.
Over The Wall camps are designed to complement the ongoing treatment cycle of children with life-limiting and serious illness. The camps are run using a model called Challenge by Choice, to create an environment where children want to, and are able to, engage in activities; feel comfortable challenging themselves; and succeed.
