Improving the health and well-being
of people living in East Yorkshire
and Northern Lincolnshire
At their July meeting, the Help for Health Trustees approved a grant of £1,069.44 to myaware who provide information, advice and support to those affected by all forms of myasthenia. The grant is to provide members of the myaware Hull support group with funding for sessions from a trained counsellor and/or benefits advisor and newsletters that provide information on medicine matters, benefits changes, feedback, and news from the other support groups.
Myasthenia is a group of rare, neurological muscle weakness diseases, which can affect anyone, at any age. They are lifelong, life changing and often-debilitating diseases. Depression, low self-esteem and feelings of isolation are common amongst those diagnosed with myasthenia and emotional well-being and mental health is frequently cited as a key need and priority for those with long-term neurological conditions.
