Improving the health and well-being
of people living in East Yorkshire
and Northern Lincolnshire
Help for Health have awarded a grant of £5,000 to Penny Brohn UK for their Living Well Services in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire to help provide a programme of support for local people living with cancer. These services are available free of charge to anyone with a cancer diagnosis and their supporters. All of the services are designed to help support people’s physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual health.
The package of support includes:
Introductory sessions – 2.5-hour events accustoming people to the concept of self-management in their cancer journey. The sessions will focus on four topics – eating well, stress management, emotional wellbeing and physical activity. Each session can help up to 16 people.
Living Well courses - a 15 hour community based course (spread over 2 or 3 days) providing tools and information about: healthy eating; physical activity; relaxation and stress management; emotional; psychological support; and help managing impact on relationships. Each course helps 12 people and includes follow up services over 12 months designed to support and reactivate people who have attended a Living Well course.
