Improving the health and well-being
of people living in East Yorkshire
and Northern Lincolnshire
Hornsea Nursery School is going to offer sessions for individuals who are suffering from a range of mental health issues including anxiety, low self-confidence and social isolation. The Help for Health Trustees are pleased to be able to support this project with a grant of £5,311 from our Lazenby Trust.
The family support sessions will be in the form of 'weekly drop-in' sessions (one am/one pm) where refreshments will be available, there is space to meet, chat and have the space/time to talk and reflect. This time is often missing at home and often leads parents/carers to build up problems, which often seem insurmountable. Early intervention in this situation is extremely important and during these sessions, Hornsea Nursery School will employ sessional staff to organise the room, support parents/carers and their family members and where appropriate to take care of any younger siblings who attend.
In addition, the school has teamed with ‘Fair Share, Food Cloud’ and will be supporting parents to cook nutritious meals with the ‘Make and Take’ idea. In short they cook and bake together and take what they have made home.
